Overview

IPAA undertook a state-wide skills gap analysis and found that within the Executive Level demographic there is a need for leadership skills and professional development for new executives. IPAA has responded by developing this program.

This program is designed for new executives already working within the sector who have prior knowledge of the mechanics of government. Focusing on leadership and strategy, this program will cover the fundamentals of senior management and feature guest presentations from current senior executives.

Content

Leadership and People Skills is made up of five core study units covering Thinking Strategically, Time and Self Management, Managing Performance, Leading Teams and Conflict Resolution.

Optional Study Pathway with Assessment

This program can be assessed to provide credit for the Toolkit for Public Management subject, which is part of the Graduate Program in Public Administration offered by the Flinders University Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences.

Connection to South Australian Executive Service (SAES) Competencies

The Leadership and People Skills course considers the five course SAES executive competencies, which form the essential elements of leadership.
