Department for Families and Communities
Volunteers make a positive difference - to our organisation, to the lives of the people we serve and to the South Australian community. We depend on the gift of time from volunteers to help us in the delivery of many of our programs.
VERIS
The Volunteer Emergency Recovery Information System (VERIS) is an online system for registering and allocating volunteers specifically for helping the community in post-disaster recovery operations. It is only activated in the recovery phase of a State Emergency.

Families SA Volunteering Opportunities
Families SA volunteers are part of a formal program which guides recruitment, orientation, training and supervision processes. Volunteers contribute to Community Residential Care, Court Liaison Unit and District Centres across the state.
Families SA volunteers are required to have police and departmental checks every two years.

Disability SA Volunteering Opportunities
Volunteers support people with disabilities at Disability SA campuses and in community settings across SA. Activities can include art and craft, client outings, companionship and general support. Volunteer Coordinators provide ongoing support during the volunteering experience.

Emergency service volunteers play a vital role in the South Australian community. There are over 18,000 dedicated and brave South Australians who add to the social capital of our community because they are willing to protect their community in times of natural disasters and emergencies.

Country Fire Services
The community relies on people, from all walks of life, to give their time to become members of the SA Country Fire Service (CFS). Men and women who live within a reasonable distance of their local brigade are very welcome to join.
